The EU Directive on batteries was published in 2006 and was intended to
be enacted in the UK in full this year (2008). However, as a result of
delays by the UK Government, the UK has split implementation into two
parts:
1.
Regulations relating to materials prohibition and
labelling
requirements will come into force on 26th September 2008. These apply to
producers and importers sourcing from outside the EU.
2.
Regulations relating to the collection and recycling of batteries and
the funding of this activity are yet to be published and are expected to
be implemented early in 2009.
These regulations will affect you if you directly import from outside
the EU any batteries or products containing batteries. It will be
prohibited to place onto the market after 26th September 2008
any battery that does not comply with these regulations.

implementation

We will be offering a compliance service to assist with the recycling
regulations once these are confirmed. If you would like to receive
information about this service once it is available, please email
